Pokémon GO News & Guides Index
An overview of the news and guides covered on Trainer Hub's events hub: seasons, the events calendar, and competitive play resources.
This section of Trainer Hub gathers our guides on everything that changes over time in Pokémon GO: seasons, the events calendar, and the competitive scene around the GO Battle League. Think of it as the hub-of-hubs for anything time-sensitive, as opposed to the fixed mechanics guides on our main site.
How this section is organized
Rather than a news feed of specific dated posts, which would go stale quickly, we organize this section around durable explainers: how a given system works structurally, so the guide stays useful long after any specific event has ended.
Seasons and the calendar
Start with our guide to how Pokémon GO seasons work for the big-picture structure, then our events calendar guide for how the shorter-term event rotation fits within a season.
Raids and FAQs
We maintain a set of FAQ-style pages covering recurring event types and formats, including our legendary raids FAQ and our page on finding raids and routes near you. These focus on how the mechanics work rather than which specific Pokémon happen to be featured right now.
Why we split "news" from "guides"
Traditional game news sites focus on reporting specific, dated announcements. We take a different approach here: rather than a feed of posts that age quickly, every page in this section is written as a standing explainer, something you could read the week an event is announced or months later and still get accurate, useful information from. The trade-off is that we won't be the fastest place to hear about a brand-new announcement — the in-game news feed will always beat us there — but a guide here should still make sense long after that announcement has come and gone.
How to read our FAQ-style pages
A number of pages in this section are written in FAQ format, covering recurring event types like Legendary raids or tiered competitive events. These are structured around the questions new players tend to ask about a format, rather than any specific instance of that format, so the same FAQ page should stay relevant across many different rotations of the same event type.
Competitive coverage in this section
Alongside event coverage, this section holds our competitive play guides, covering the GO Battle League's structure, ranking system, cup formats, and team building. If competitive play is your main interest, our competitive guide is the best entry point, branching out from there into rankings and rating and team building strategy.
Tiered event coverage
We also maintain a set of pages covering the tiered structure of Pokémon GO's more formal competitive events, from local gatherings up through Regional, International, and World Championship-level play. These pages focus on how each tier generally relates to the others rather than any specific season's schedule, since that structure has stayed relatively consistent even as individual event details change year to year.
Community and social pages
Rounding out this section, we cover the more social side of the game: finding local events and meetups, connecting with a community group, and what community organizing roles have generally looked like. These pages are less about mechanics and more about the practical side of playing alongside other people, which for many trainers is a big part of what makes the game enjoyable long-term.
If you're not sure where to start
A reasonable path through this section is to begin with whichever guide matches something you're currently curious about, rather than reading everything in order. If raiding is on your mind, start with our raid-focused FAQs; if competitive PvP interests you, start with the GO Battle League guides; and if you're mainly looking to play alongside other people, our community-finding guides are the better starting point.
Coming back later
Because this section is built around durable explainers rather than a dated feed, it's worth bookmarking and returning to as your interests shift, whether that's moving from casual raiding into competitive PvP or simply wanting a refresher on how a system works after a break from the game.
A note on freshness
Because Pokémon GO's calendar, raid rotations, and competitive seasons change constantly, the guides in this section are written to explain systems and structure rather than list specific current details. For anything happening right now, the in-game news feed and official announcements remain the accurate source; our job is to help those announcements make more sense once you read them.
